The Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM) is a relief and development arm of the Catholic Church, It aims at creating awareness and empowering disadvantaged men, women and the youth at all levels to undertake development which is integral, gender and environment sensitive, sustainable and which promotes justice, human dignity and self reliance with the active participation of the people themselves so that they take up responsibility of their own destiny
CADECOM of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe is implementing a number of projects including Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction Water and Hygiene (SPLASH and WASH) programs, ECRP, village Security and Water Programmes among others
Diocesan CADECOM Secretary - CADECOM
Animation and education of the diocesan community in matters pertaining to development relief and rehabilitation, Responsible for overall management of CADECOM i.e. Project management, financial management and human resource management, Facilitate and coordinate development and relief programmes in the diocese, Strengthens CADCOM at diocesan and parish levels and ensure that institutional development capacities are strengthened, Assist Parish CADECOM Committees in working out project proposals before they are submitted to potential funders, With the knowledge of the bishop’s office and the National CADECOM Secretary solicit funding for projects accepted and approved by the diocesan CADECOM Board, Demonstrate accountability of project funds for CADECOM to the following: The diocesan Archbishop, The Diocesan CADECOM board, The Diocesan Finance council, Donor partners, Targeted groups and CADECOM National office in cases where the funds were remitted by the same, Be a link person between the diocese, on one hand, and national, international agencies, District Assemblies and other development agencies, on the other, Ensure Diocesan representation at district, national and international meetings, Promote the activities of CADECOM by ensuring the participation of local people and seeking the support and assistance from other development agencies, Ensure that all contracts and agreements between CADECOM and donor partners are signed by the Bishop as a Legal Holder and send copies of the Diocesan Archives, Ensure the appropriate systems and procedures for dealing with donor partners/stakeholders and that they adhered to and reviewed as regularly as necessary, Provide secretarial services to the Board
Bachelors or MSc Degree in Agriculture/Community Development/Social work/Natural Resources Management or equivalent, Specialised training in project management, At least 4 yrs experience in senior management position, those with experience in NGOs or Faith Based Organisation will have an added advantage, Experienced computer user with proficiency I Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Power point, etc0 and skills with using the internet, solid analytical, creative problem solving skills, Strong organisational skills including task and time management, ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines, must be a practising Christian, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Motor vehicle driving skills and a valid licence will be an added advantage
