Fleet Maintenance Manager

The Carter Center – South Sudan provides technical and logistical support to specific programs of the Ministry of Health – Republic of South Sudan. The Carter Center seeks one dynamic, qualified candidate for the position below.
Title: Fleet Maintenance Manager
Duty Station: Juba, South Sudan with frequent field travel
Duration: Six-month renewable contract
Closing Date: 15 October 2013
Position Description
The Fleet Maintenance Manager, under the direct supervision of the Transport Manager, oversees the vehicle repair section of the transport department in all four regional supply hubs including:
1) Supervise and provide hands-on training of vehicle and motorcycle Hub mechanics. Ensure transport staff adhere to organizational policies and repair/maintenance best practices.
2) Ensure adherence to preventative maintenance schedules.
3) Ensure effective maintenance and repair documentation system.
4) Manage and organize hub fleet workshops.
5) Participate in and supervise vehicle repairs and services especially engine, differential, and transmission work.
6) Help forecast fleet annual spare parts and workshop consumables needs and maintenance costs.
7) Report vehicle and fleet workshop issues to the Transport Manager.
This position requires overseeing four workshops which conduct repairs and services for the following vehicles: • 40 Toyota Land Cruisers, seven Ural trucks, and two Isuzu 6x4 Heavy Trucks
• Five Massey Ferguson tractors
• 190 Suzuki Motorcycles
• 40 Generators
Minimum Qualifications: • Five (5) years of progressive experience in workshop management and automotive maintenance/repair including of Toyota Land Cruisers.
• Three (3) years experience working for non-governmental organizations.
• Relevant academic qualifications and/or recognized apprenticeship in automotive engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance on diesel and petrol light engines, heavy truck engines, vehicle and motorcycle transmissions, and vehicle differentials. Ability to weld and do body work.
• Demonstrated ability to stay organized and effectively manage staff in a complex, dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated ability to design/implement innovative training and capacity-building exercises.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office [MS Access, Excel, and Word]
• Possess valid passport
• Excellent written and spoken English
