Position Summary The Project Coordinator will assist with the ongoing activities for Southeast Asia (SEA) programs including administration of sub-grants, building and cultivating knowledge of human rights for local partners, and coordinating between the field, Bangkok, and Washington DC office. She/ he will serve as a local coordinator and will interact with other stakeholders such as donors, government officials, local civil society organizations (CSOs), and other international NGOs. This position based in Yangon, Myanmar and reports to the Director for SEA programs in Washington, DC. This is a part-time 20 hour per week position.
Minimum Qualifications ■ Bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, human rights, law, or related field; Master’s degree preferred ■ Minimum six months related experience or combination of education, training, and experience Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing ■ Strong ability to communicate effectively in Burmese strongly preferred ■ Strong knowledge of human rights principles and mechanisms, and understanding of democracy promotion, with a focus on SEA ■ Mastery of MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint ■ Demonstrated experience in creating, managing and reporting on budgets and program activities ■ Strong ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, and multi task to meet tight deadlines ■ Ability to apply superb attention to detail and consistently produce timely and error free work ■ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with program team ■ Ability to consistently apply good judgment in problem solving and decision making ■ Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times
Some Duties and Responsibilities ■ Conduct outreach to/and coordinate with local CSOs and sub-grantees, as well as with a wide spectrum of policymakers and stakeholders in Burma ■ Consult with various political, governmental, international and civil society stakeholders and conduct donor outreach as needed ■ Track and maintain up-to-date program information ■ Draft short monthly and other narrative reports on program and in-country developments ■ Prepare financial reports and requests for funds ■ Work with relevant partners to establish budgets for events held in Burma ■ Identify and secure appropriate venues for events based on the budget, estimated audience, equipment needs, etc. ■ Create invitations/agendas and manage RSVPs ■ Document events/trainings, including filing or storing event photos, invitation lists, agendas, etc. electronically and, when appropriate, in hard copy form Coordinate other logistics, including local travel and lodging, securing and identifying interpreters, ensuring that all necessary equipment is secured and set up ■ Oversee follow up activities, including sending thank you letters and documenting lessons-learned and helping out with other debriefing activities ■ Other related duties as assigned.
