Background
The International Union for Conservation of Nature, Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (IUCN ESARO) has been implementing the Fair Coasts Programme in Mozambique since October 2012, in collaboration with local, national and regional partners including AMA, University of Eduardo Mondlane, University Lurio and Coastal Oceans Research and Development Indian Ocean (CORDIO). The Programme seeks to facilitate equitable and sustainable governance of natural resources, coastal and marine ecosystems in Cabo Delgado through the maximization of economic, livelihood and biodiversity conservation opportunities and minimization of ecological, social and economic risks presented by the development of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project.
Specific responsibilities:
Reporting to the Mozambique Head of Office, the Fair Coast Programme Coordinator will be responsible for administration, fiscal management and implementation of the programme goals and the objectives of the Fair Coast Programme. She/he will serve as the management leader and coordinator of the Field Unit based in Cabo Delgado and will also serve as one of the primary field liaisons with provincial host government representatives, field based partner agencies, local institutions and communities.
Qualifications and Expertise
At least 5-7 years of proven work experience in a similar position with:
i. Master’s Degree in International development, Environment, or relevant field required.
ii. Strong background in managing and directing field operations.
iii. Strong skills in Multi Stakeholder Processes, including convening and facilitating networks/platforms involving a diverse and large number of stakeholders across different sectors.
iv. Experience in programme design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
v. Understanding and proven application of rights base or participatory approaches, partnership and gender programmes.
vi. Fluency in English and Portuguese.
