Hygiene Village Project (HVP) is a local NGO in water and sanitation sector and works to enable communities to live in total hygienic environment with reduced diseases and death rate. HVP is working towards complementing the govt’s efforts in improving sanitation in Nkhotakota District trough the integrated WASH strategies
Hygiene Village Project has received funds from Plan Malawi with the aim of improving the health status and learning environment of primary school children in rural areas of Nkhotakota District, Central Region, Malawi, by increasing their access to and use of safe water supplies and hygienic sanitation facilities, and supporting the adoption of good personal hygiene practices such as hand-washing
For this reason HVP is seeking for competent person who is able to commit most of his/her time working with rural communities to fill the position of WASH Coordinator on a one yr contract and will be based in Nkhotakota
Undertake a situation analysis and baseline study on the status and hygiene service sin the target areas, Conduct mobilisation and engagement of local schools and surrounding communities, Supervise water supply system design, construction, system testing and/or treatment, Supervise sanitation facility design and construction, Facilitate operations and maintenance training for developed water supply and sanitation facilities, Facilitate hygiene promotions in the target areas, Submit in writing monthly reports to the Project Team Leader and to the Director, Conduct monitoring, reporting and evaluation
Experience in WASH activities, Education to at least a Degree in Environmental Health/Science or higher Diploma in Community Development, Excellent community interpersonal/mobilization skills, Able to efficiently interact with community opinion leaders, school heads and other stakeholders, Ability to drive a motorcycle and have a valid motor cycle licence, Prepare and ready to settle in the remote areas of NKhotakota District for the entire project period, Successful candidates will be offered a 1 yr contract
