CARE Malawi is seeking to recruit a Head of People and Culture who will be responsible for working closely with the Country Director to ensure that CARE Malawi has an organisational culture in which staff is actively and positively engaged in the work of the organisation and the achievement of its vision and mission.  This will include managing and overseeing the Country Office Human Resource function in the areas of both human resource  management and human resource development.  In addition, this position will be responsible for regularly monitoring the organisational climate and identifying ways to ensure that staff is proud to work for CARE and feel that their contributions are valued by the organisation.  This position is part of the Country Office Management Team
 
Human Resource Management – Lead the HR policy development and reviews in compliance with CARE International policies and local labor legislation, Facilitate the hiring, compensation and benefits negotiations processes according to established policies and procedures, Lead the Human Resources Unit in providing effective and timely support services in Human Resources and legal related issues to all projects in the country office, Coordinate all relations with relevant government offices on all relevant labour issues including labor dispute resolution and workers compensation processes and also processing work permits for expatriate staff, Keep, update and ensure maintenance of all pertinent national staff human resources records/files
 
Human Resource Development  - Coordinate and monitor staff performance management processes to ensure that it is being properly and effectively used, Develop and implement a human resource development strategy that is responsive to the needs of both the organisation and the staff, Develop and oversee a succession management process that ensures that Human Resource needs of the organisation are anticipated and planned for
 
Organisational Culture – Regularly monitor organisational climate and make recommendations to management on how to improve the climate when necessary and ensure that CARE’s core values are being practiced by all staff, Develop innovative ways to gather input from staff on a variety of topics and to promote increased staff engagement in a variety of areas, work closely with the Country Office Gender Equity and Diversity Advisor to promote a CARE Malawi culture that is responsive to the needs of a diverse workforce and policies and practices are in place to ensure a strong gender balance at all levels of the organisation
 
Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Development or any relevant disciplines, Those studying towards or in possession of Masters Degree will have an added advantage, A minimum of 5 yrs of experience at a senior management position in a large and diverse organisation, preferably in a Non Governmental Organisation setting
 
Effective communication and team building skills, A self starter who is willing to innovate and try new approaches, Excellent interpersonal skills, and a good sense of humour, Knowledge of the Malawi labor legislation
