Have excellent analytical, problem solving, decision-making, team building, interpersonal, including Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) skills, Able to foster a culture of innovation, creativity and openness which values research, productivity and growth, Capable of creating and sustaining good and harmonious relationships among University staff members and students on one hand and the University and its key stakeholders such as the Malawi Assemblies of God on the other hand, awareness of global trends in higher education and ability to create a niche for MAGU, Experience in building strategic partnerships an dalliances with public and private sectors in areas of research, outreach/consultancy, training and project coordination, Experiencing in leading strategic planning processes, Result oriented with high levels of personal motivation and resilience and capable of taking ownership of major development programmes and projects of the University and drive them to their successful completion, having demonstrable experience in financial management, resource mobilisation and fundraising activities, which could ensure self-sustainability of MAGU, Proven academic record with over 5 yrs of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with research experience, and demonstrable capacity to supervise post graduate students and substantial scholarly achievements demonstrated by research outputs in the form of publications in referred books and journals, At least 15 yrs f progressive experience in reputable universities, 5 of which should have been at senior leadership level in a tertiary institution, Minimum of a PhD degree from a reputable university and should have attained the rank preferably of professor or its equivalent
Provide strategic direction and leadership of the University and represent the university nationally, regionally and internationally, Organise and conduct the financial and administrative business of the University in accordance with the constitution and decisions of Council and the Academic board, Prepare and present reports to Council on various matters including financial estimates, and staff requirements of the University, Advice the Council and Academic Board on all matters affecting policy, finance, governance, and administration of the university, Appoint all employees other than senior members in accordance with laid down procedures and terms by council, Lead in efforts to diversify the university’s financial base, Build strategic alliances and networks that benefit the University
The Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU) was established by the Malawi Assemblies of God to provide a high level system of education driven by strong Christian values and standards. The Council in exercise of its constitutional power urgently seeks to engage the services of a competent, dynamic and pragmatic individual as Vice Chancellor. The individual sough it is expected to bring visionary and transformational leadership that will see MAGU emerging as the University of first-choice among those seeking tertiary education and one that contributes to the overall agenda of the church and the nation as a whole.
Reporting to Council, the vice Chancellor is expected to provide overall strategic leadership of the University as principal academic office and Chief Executive Officer
