Land Surveying and Physical Planning/Mapping /Cartographic Technician – Malawi Polytechnic – Blantyre
Diploma in Cartography or Mapping Science preferably obtained from a recognised institution with at least 3 yrs experience, must be able to visualise objects, distances, sizes and abstract forms, Must work with precision and accuracy, Must have good eyesight coordination, and hearing to communicate graphically , verbally and manually, Must have good office practice and stores skills, Ability to work as part of a team and Be able to research old deeds and other legal documents and prepare reports that document their work
Under the supervision of the Head of Department
Assist in the process of measuring, mapping and charting the earth’s surface which involves everything from geographical research and data compilation to actual map production, Collection analysis and interpretation both spatial data – such as latitude, longitude, elevation and distance and non-spatial data – such as population density, land use patients, annual precipitation levels, and demographic characteristics, Assisting in arranging practicals for students in the preparation maps in either digital or graphic form, using information provided by geodetic surveys, aerial photographs, and satellite data
