Country Representative for Malawi – Practical Action

Practical Action Southern Africa, part of an international technology development organisation headquartered in the UK with other offices in Eastern Africa, Latin America and South Asia, is recruiting a Country Representative for Malawi to be based in Lilongwe, Malawi
Will lead the development and delivery of Practical Action’s Southern Africa Strategy in Malawi primarily through consultancy delivery but also through longer term charitable development programming
Malawi is the regional target for Practical Action and in prioritising this Practical Action has committed resourcing and budget to support the development and as also formally registered PAC as a local company in Malawi
Working closely with the Managing Director of Practical Action consulting (PAC) and the Regional Director for Southern Africa, s/he will have a key role in relationships building, networking with potential donors and clients, developing and fulfilling a business plan to grow our profile and portfolio in the region, securing funding, managing projects and consultants and overseeing the delivery of Practical Action’s work while honouring organisational standards and values

The activities you would prioritise in the first 3 months in this post
Candidate must have at least a masters Degree in a technical focus area relevant to Practical Action work (i.e. Energy, Climate change, Participatory market development, Food security, development Studies, Economics or related areas), At least 7 yrs active involvement in development work and/or management of consulting services, demonstrable skills in marketing consulting services and exposure to dealing with diverse clientele in the context of racial, ethnic and cultural diversity and proven expertise and knowledge in development of wining proposals, contract delivery and management
