BRANCH ACCOUNTANT/ BANKING OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR
REPORTS TO CHIEF ACCOUNTANT/ BANKING OPERATIONS MANAGER
BASIC FUNCTION
Role: To provide oversight of banking operations to ensure adherence to operational policies and procedures and control operation lapses
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervise front and back office operations and ensure that due diligence in operational procedures, thereby reducing exceptions in routine branch audit examinations
- Enhance customer care data confidentiality through centralised coordination of edit rights and modifications
- Manage the centralised loan processing function to ensure effective turn around, quality of loan documentation, and control over loan creation
- Manage the centralised loan processing function to ensure effective turn around, quality of transaction documentation and control
- Identify operational improvement opportunities through branch interactions and feedback
- Ensure income collection and revenue assurance on credit products through on-going review of collateral requirements and statutory charges to clients
Focus Areas Key Functions
- I. Centralized Loan Processing
- Supervision and control of the Centralized loans processing function to enhance productivity of business teams and ensure adherence to credit policies:
- Oversight for all loan processing loan functions
II. Centralized Operations Support
Supervision and control of the Centralized Operations support function to enhance productivity of business teams and ensure adherence to operational and accounting policies:
- remote account opening, remote transaction processing, POS and Breft reserve-in/out, cash and suspense account reconciliations
- Group Transfer Accounts, Group Savings Accounts, POS Teller Clearing and other POS Centres GLs
- III. Branch Operations
- Supervision and control of Branch Operations function to enhance productivity of front-office banking staff
- Oversight for service and operational outputs across branches
- Liaison with branch management on general operational issues and branch maintenance.
- IV. Operational risks & Compliance
- Periodic review of front and back office operations to ensure due diligence on Teller transactions, Account creation, Data entry on CRB Registration, Till sheets, Vault limits, Loan disbursements and other operational activities
- V. Business continuity management for Operations
- Liaison with cross-functional teams to develop business continuity plans for branch and head office operations to ensure service delivery in the event of minor to major incidences
- Incidence reporting and escalation of service exceptions
- VI. User Rights Management
- Operational over-sight for system access by front and back-off staff to ensure adherence to defined policies and procedures
- VII. MIS Reporting
- Develop and manage standardized format for collating and analyzing branch customer interactions e.g. feedbacks, complaints and enquiries
- Generate reports from collected data for management information which will be used to raise the standard of service and decision making
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or
- Professional Accounting qualifications
Language:
- English
Experience:
- At least six (6) years relevant work experience in a financial/ banking sector with a minimum of 4 years of cross functional, front and back office supervisory role
