NICO Life, an equal opportunity employer, has a vacancy for a chief operating officer tenable at their Head office in Blantyre. The successful candidate who will be responsible for individual life and employee Benefits Division, will report to the chief executive officer.
Terms and conditions
The successful candidate will be offered pensionable employment contract in terms of NICO life’s standard condition of service, and the remuneration package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
Key responsibility
• To provide leadership in managing day to day operations of individual life and employee Benefits Divisions and oversee the implementation and execution of approved corporate policies and strategic business planning
Other key responsibilities include the following
• Formulate, articulate and execute the corporate vision and mission and strategic business plan of the company
• Direct, guide, monitor and evaluate the operations of the company to ensure prudence in utilization of human, financial and other resources and delivery of excellent services to stakeholders
• Manage the business within the legal and regulatory requirements
• Develop and drive the marketing strategy to promote the NICO life Brand
• Drive the risk, governance and compliance agenda and ensure that operations perform within the company’s risk appetite
• Prepare and submit business reports to stakeholders
Qualities
This is a senior position and successful candidate must be a self-starter and capable of working with minimum supervision, performance and results driven, keen to enhance service provision to clients, capable of working under pressure with tight deadlines and with a strong eye detail. He/she should have dynamic and pleasant personality and be a team player possessing persuasive communication and presentation skills. This job is likely to appeal to those that are prepared to apply a hands-on approach, young and energetic and passionate about starting a career in the life industry.
Qualifications and experience
The successful candidate must have the following
• Have an excellent understanding of the life and pension business. Strong passion to study and attain relevant insurance qualifications will be strong advantage
• Possesses excellent managerial skills with 10 years or more experience at a senior/executive managerial level
• Have a university degree in a relevant field eg Management, Economics, administration or finance, actuarial studies and statistics
• A post graduate university qualification or diploma in insurance will be an added advantage
• Must be fully computer literate in Microsoft office products
