The Nickel Institute is the global representative body of the nickel industry representing 75% of all refined nickel production worldwide. It comprises 22 Member Companies and has offices in Canada, the United States, Belgium, China and Japan. Its mission is to promote and support the use of nickel in appropriate applications. On a day to day basis, the Institute is responsible for:
- Developing relevant science on the health and environmental impacts of nickel;
- Anticipating and responding to global trends and regulatory policies, which may affect nickel production and its uses;
- Growing and defending markets for new and existing nickel applications.
Nickel is critical for addressing the global mega-challenges faced by society and the Nickel Institute is mandated by its members to promote the benefits of nickel now and in the future.

Position:
The Nickel Institute is seeking to recruit a Market Development Analyst, located in Brussels. Reporting to the Director, Promotion & Market Development, you will be responsible for a broad variety of topics:
- Market Development Programme Support
- Monitor progress of the Market Development programme by tracking planned and completed actions of both internal NI staff and externally contracted specialists. Undertake market research projects in support of the programme;
- Maintain market specialist database. Ensure list of major projects that are or may use nickel-containing materials is maintained for accuracy and completeness of all required details;
- Develop and maintain conference and exhibition list for the nickel industry, first-use and end-use sectors;
- Market Statistics Database
- Maintain and update database using input from external analysts and internal market reports for mined and refined nickel, first-use sectors (e.g. stainless steel, nickel alloys etc) and end-use sectors;
- Provide regular and ad hoc analysis;
- Technical Enquiry System
- Monitor and allocate enquiries to appropriate sector specialist and linked associations;
- Summarise and analyse enquiries, providing regular reports for NI management;
- Direct Support to Director
- Preparation of reports, presentations and other documents;
- Administer Promotions Working Group, attend meetings and take minutes;
- Supervise contract administration.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Post-secondary education with university degree;
- 7+ years industrial marketing or business experience;
- Strong communication skills and fluent in written and spoken English, with other languages considered an advantage;
- Highly detail-oriented;
- Demonstrable ability working with databases and relevant software applications;
- Self-motivated and able to work remotely with stakeholders and colleagues in other countries;
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and foster teamwork.
Assets:
- Knowledge of the nickel industry and its markets;
- Familiarity with the metals/mining industry;
- Experience in project management.
