The Malawi Economic Justice Network is a leading coalition of over 100 civil society organizations in Malawi whose main objectives is promoting participatory economic governance and advocating for the plight of poor people in Malawi. major works involves analysis and monitoring of the nationl budget and ensuring the government and donor policies focus on the majority poor, and that citizens get value for money in all government and donor activities. The network is currently receiving applications for a vacancy that has risen in its Finance and Administration Department from suitably qualified individuals as follows
Position: Accountant
Reporting to: Director of Finance and Administration
Duration of contract: Two years (renewable)
Application Deadline: 25 April 204
Duty station: Lilongwe, Malawi
Duties:
• Coordinate with the DOFA in ensuring timely submission of ACCURATE finance report to the networks partners, board and management
• Update and maintaining books of accounts to finance using sage Pastel Accounting package
• , performing bank, creditors, debtors and general ledger reconciliation and formats
• Ensure timely submissions of all programs of all field liquidations
• Maintaining a proper filing system in the finance department
• Participate in the coordination of the annual statutory audit and the network’s financial system review
• Any other duties assigned by the management from time to time
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum of a Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent.
Experiences
• Good knowledge of theoretic and practical principles of finance, accounting and budget
• Ability to apply in concrete situation
• Proficiency in using IT (especially, accounting soft ware systems
• Self motivated with ability to work well under pressure
• A minimum of two years experience in a busy accounting office ( NGO experience will be an added advantage
• Be able to take initiative and make suggestions
• High level of personal and professional integrity
