BASIC FUNCTION
- The Branch Manager is directly responsible for ensuring efficient and effective delivery of all FINCA services in his/her branch.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
I. Manage the branch staff.
- Monitor and evaluate the work of the Branch Accountant and Account Relationship Supervisors / Assistant Credit Manager.
- Review staff performance and recommend to the Chief Operations Officer / Operations Manager on measures to improve performance.
- Review and approve all Branch Human Resources evaluations to ensure compliance with HRM.
- Plan and ensure that the branch office has a sufficient number of staff and plan the staff leave to meet regional operations and efficiency.
- Boost branch staff morale through counselling and create a conducive work environment as well as monitor staff discipline.
- Coach and mentor staff to achieve required performance levels.
- Hold regular staff meetings.
- Identify training and development needs for Branch personnel on an ongoing basis.
II. Develop and supervise implementation of strategies to grow savings products and quality loan portfolios for the branch.
- Plan and monitor portfolio growth and outreach.
- Develop and monitor growth of the savings portfolio.
- Review performance of all products and formulate strategies to improve performance.
- Solicit business and attend to key company customers in order to grow the business.
III. Ensure good customer service.
- Identify, assess, monitor and respond to customer concerns through use of the Standard customer care survey tools.
- Plan, monitor and implement the disbursement processes as per set disbursement standards mainly focusing on quick service delivery and efficiency.
IV. Branch administration.
- Ensure the security of the Branch premises and equipment.
- Keep branch premises and assets by carrying out timely repairs and maintenance of equipments and buildings.
- Maintain an Asset register.
- Identify fixed asset needs and make requisitions to the Regional Manager.
V. Budgeting and control of branch budget.
- Prepare branch budget.
- Approve branch expenses and review branch expense reports to control operating and non-operating expenses.
- Monitor budget performance and explain variances to the Finance and Administrative Manager / Chief Financial Officer.
- Prepare annual work plans, reviewed semi-annually, with the Chief Operations Officer / Operations Manager.
VI. Liquidity Management.
- Plan and monitor daily cash requirements of the branch.
- Maintain branch cash insurance limits.
VII. Branch compliance of all policies and procedures.
- Review the branch transactions on a daily basis to validate them and ensure compliance with operating guidelines.
- Train staff in policies and procedures.
- Ensure that staff adhere to all FINCA policies.
- Review the company policies and procedures and advise management on the need to amend the policies and procedures for the efficient performance.
- Liaise with the internal audit department to facilitate regular audits of the regional office, respond to audit reports, and implement audit recommendations.
VIII. Branch relationships.
- Represent the company in key public events to raise the profile within the community.
- Maintain relations with other Financial Institutions.
- Visit important clients to build client/organization relationship
IX. Branch reporting.
- Review and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports
X. Business plans and market studies.
- Manage implementation of branch market studies as directed by management
- Use market studies to identify untapped market segments
- Design strategies to develop these segments
XI. Assess, review and approve loans as per policy.
- Actively participate in credit committee as per policy, as member of the branch credit committee.
- Visit clients to assess creditworthiness where it deems necessary.
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
- University Degree preferably in commerce and accounting (B.Com), Business Administration (B.BA/ Banking) or related discipline.
Language:
- English
- Language of the area in which the branch is located.
Experience:
- At least 5 years work experience in a recognized micro finance institution or commercial bank.
- At least one year’s experience at the manager level, or other acceptable supervisory capacity (such as Credit Supervisor, or Accountant).
- A sound knowledge of micro finance, principles, and practices of banking.
