The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of Reports Officer at P2 level, which will be based in our country office in Bangui, Central African Republic.

Under the general supervision of the Country, the Reports Officer will be responsible for the following key duties:
• Coordinate reporting activities;
• Monitor and review regular sources of information and data required for preparation of reports, e.g., information from NGOs, news clippings, surveys, information from field monitors, food statistics reports;
• Write a regular situation report for WFP Headquarters summarising WFP activities; assist in the preparation, writing and editing of all other reports required by Headquarters;
• Gather and analyse information about donor policies, trends and preferences;
• Prepare donor appeals and reports including the Standard Project Report for the Annual Reporting Exercise, in conjunction with Programme and Logistics Officers;
• Act as public information focal point in the absence of in-country Public Information Officer;
• Prepare press releases, media briefs, talking points, donor visibility materials and organise advocacy campaigns in the absence of in-country Public Information Officer;
• Compile field level information required for operational reports to donors;
• Liaise with Headquarters (Analysis, Assessment and Preparedness Division) and provide local input on the production of maps;
• Liaise as needed with Donors, NGOs and other UN agencies;
• Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Education:
• University degree in Journalism, English, Social Sciences, International Relations, Communications, or other related fields.
Experience: • At least 3 years of postgraduate professional experience as a journalist, public information officer, information management specialist or similar speciality;
• Proven experience in developing information strategies and programmes within the country context;
• Experience in humanitarian operations or field-based development cooperation is highly desirable.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:• Training and/or experience utilising computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other standard WFP software packages and systems;
• General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration is desirable.
Competencies:• Resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgement and tact;
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written;
• Good analytical and negotiation skills;
• Ability to work in a team, and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds;
• Ability to carry out tasks under pressure and minimal supervision;
• Ability to develop greater expertise through exposure to a range of programme development and implementation activities.
Language:• Proficiency (working knowledge) in both English and French;
• Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Spanish, Russian or Chinese) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
Terms and ConditionsThe selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year.
