Direct and implement regional policies and procedures, budgeting, forecasting, and aspects of balance sheet management as directed by Group Treasury and effectively support the management of strategic projects (new markets and acquisitions) and regional projects including Finance Transformation.
Act individually or jointly with other management team members to enhance relationship with regional CFOs, MANCO and other stakeholders in order to deliver on the Bank’s strategic intent across the existing 15 countries and new markets | |

Business Partnering & Performance Management
Performance management forms the core of this role, including reconciliation of the Financial lens through to the franchise view for transparent performance management across the lenses. The individual will provide support to the CFO with managing regional level deliverables such as forecast, budgets, MANCO packs, Investor Relations etc. The individual will be a liaison for country / region interaction with Group. Play a critical partnership role in managing performance, providing the right metrics and insights to enable the businesses to deepen their relationships with clients and customers and to assist In decision making by providing insights on the Africa performance. Provide Governance and Business leaders with sharper data and insights to support decision making with o Focused data on business opportunities, risks and drivers of performance o Transparency on cost drivers to deliver the right expense management behavior o Competitive insights and analysis Review, analyze and submit timely reports and MI on Africa region’s performance and sub-regional reviews to the Regional CFO and Regional MANCO, along with insightful commentary and forward looking analysis on regional performance. Forecasting, budgeting and monthly review of finance cost for the region; advise the Regional CFO on initiatives / measures to manage the finance cost. Support, assist and advise the Regional CFO on technical matters / issues for the region. Work with the Head of Africa Financial Controls to escalate and help resolve FORC issues as appropriate. Maintain an independent voice on business performance and enforce an exemplary governance and control framework. Balance Sheet Management in conjunction with Group Treasury The individual will work with Group Treasury and provide support as directed but largely in keeping with the following : : - Validating the structural limits prior to submission to GT - Support the ICAAP deliverables as advised by the Group ICAAP team - Work with GIA on closing out any audit issues emanating from the ICAAP audits - Collate the Regional Regulatory Updates and work with country / Group Treasury on related issues - Ensure implementation of Group Policies and Practices across the region as advised by the Group , - Work with Group Treasury on any ALCO / Balance Sheet initiatives as required Projects The individual will represent the CFO on regional level projects. The responsibilities will include: Support the review of investment project costs for approval Consolidate/prepare for performance tracking on project costs To assist support function (HR, GTO, CRES etc.) to monitor and control the costs and support budget and forecast preparation Represent Regional Finance on the key Project Steering Committees and Project Working Groups. Provide support to the Regional CFO, working closely with the Head of Africa Finance Operations (FSSC) in keeping track of key Finance Transformation initiatives and implementations to ensure robust alignment with end to end processes and control between the onshore teams, group functions and the FSSC. Continuous Improvement of the function's operating environment Play a leadership role in driving the development and implementation of re-engineering initiatives, including Finance Transformation. Enhance processes and procedures and mitigate operational risk within ALCO & ICAAP reporting process. Ensure consistency in the implementation of a balance sheet reporting control framework working closely with the Head of Africa Financial Controls. Improve processes and ensure consistency in the timeliness & quality of the deliverables to Group. People & Engagement Support the CFO with developing strategies for developing / retaining talent across the region. Lead the talent initiative for hiring / retaining and developing local talent in the market. Create opportunities for interaction of regional teams to share best practices and improve the “way we work”. Set up an active engagement plan for the Finance function. | |
Qualifications & Skills

A qualified accountant with 5 years or more experience in finance.
A strong communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills and experience of effective management of senior stakeholders. Ability to effectively balance conflicting demands and to provide constructive challenge and feedback to business leaders. Comfortable with change, demonstrable experience of continuous improvement and re-engineering initiatives. Strong people leadership capabilities, with proven experience of building teams and developing talent. Strong stakeholder management abilities with proven experience of sustainable working relationships with peers in the organization. | |
