PATH seeks an In-Country Coordinator to join the MalariaCare partnership in Mozambique. MalariaCare is a global project funded by the United States Agency for International Development under the President’s Malaria Initiative. The partnership aims to achieve universal diagnosis and appropriate case management for malaria by strengthening the capacity of malaria-affected countries at all levels of the health system to provide high-quality diagnostic and treatment services for malaria and other febrile illnesses.Based in Maputo, the In-Country Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of MalariaCare Mozambique's annual work plan. This position will report to the Technical Director of MalariaCare.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with and maintain productive collaborative relationships with in-country partners, namely:  (1) the PMI/Mozambique team, housed at USAID Mozambique; (2) the National Malaria Control Program, and other departments; (3) other PMI/Mozambique implementing partners, especially those working in procurement and case management; and (4) other stakeholders in malaria diagnostics, such as professional associations, private sector representatives, the WHO country office, etc. 
  • Implement the MalariaCare Work Plan.
  • Develop activity budgets.
  • Routine reporting and presentations to USAID and partners.
  • Supervise provincial level staff.
  • Provide technical support to the MOH. 
  • Work with headquarters to coordinate technical assistance, including TDY visits.
  • Update headquarters with weekly or bi-weekly teleconference and through regular activity reports.
  • In coordination with regional staff, assist the NMCP to implement changes to the current supervisory and quality assurance program in Mozambique.
  • In coordination with regional staff, will assist in the coordination of training of supervisors, scheduling of supervisory visits, and development and implementation of a quality assurance protocol that is based on the mentoring concepts (and on-site training/supervision) developed for case management.
  • Identify and recommend approaches for integration of activities aimed to clinicians and laboratory staff to increase the utilization of quality diagnosis in making therapeutic decisions, clinician confidence on and adherence to test results.
Required Skills


  • Both administrative and technical skills (either clinical and/or lab experience in diagnosis of infectious diseases).
  • Knowledge of procedures for diagnosis and case management of malaria.
  • Good interpersonal skills, team player, able to work under stress.
  • Computer literacy to include familiarity with Windows® programs for word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and electronic communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications in English.


Required Experience


Masters level or higher in public health or epidemiology with direct experience working with disease control programs ,experience with USAID funded project implementation,a minimum of five years of experience in managing implementation of public health programs,experience in leading, managing technical assistance teams and multi-partner collaborative projects is highly desired.

You must currently have legal authorization to work in Mozambique.
