WELTHUNGERHILFE was founded in 1962 under the umbrella of the food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations, FAO.  Today, Welthungerhilfe is one of the biggest NGO aid and development agencies in Germany.  Welthungerhilfe’s vision is  a world in which all people have the opportunity to exercise their right to a self-determined life in dignity and justice, free from hunger and poverty.  Welthungerhilfe campaigns against worldwide hunger and for sustainable food and nutrition security.  The NGOs works primarily in rural regions and is at the moment implementing 355 projects in 40 countries.  In Malawi, Welthungerhilfe is operating its programmes since registration as an NGO in August 2013

Hygiene and Nutrition Field Officers – 4 posts – Welthungerhilfe

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Field Officers are responsible for the facilitation and implementation of the activities of the Welthungerhilfe’s project “Participatory Hygiene and Nutrition Education”, in accordance with the framework specified as regards organisation, content, financing and timescales
 
The focus of this GTZ-financed project in the area of food and nutrition security lies in promotion of the hygiene and nutrition education,  Within the framework of the project, training and educational measures will take place, Welthungerhilfe will cooperate closely with existing relevant structures on national and district level
 
Actively participate in the project implementation and delivery to ensure a dynamic, context specific, participatory hygiene and nutrition education project, Ensure effective, high-quality implementation of the activities in the given project area, working towards meeting the expected outputs and outcomes, Facilitate training sessions, events, workshops and meetings, working with relevant stakeholders and partners on the district and community level, Document the achievements and lesson learnt of the project activities, Compile and produce monthly, quarterly and annually reports to the Project Coordinator, In close consultation with the Project Coordinator, work with relevant govt institutions, partners, NGO and CBO ensuring good communications and an enabling environment for the project to operate in , Attend to any other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator
 
Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Public/Environmental Health, Food and Nutrition, Community and Rural Development, At least 3 yrs working experience in community based capacity development projects, including community mobilisation, Experience in using participatory approaches, Strong understanding of traditional and local authorities in Malawi, Experience in working with international and national NGOs and govt agencies, ICT: MS Word, Excel, Internet, Good organisational and time management skills, Self-motivated and able to achieve results with minimum supervision, Quality achiever, honest and accountable, respectful. Flexible, Fluent in English, Valid driving licence for motorcycle
