Our Client -Is one of South Africa leading multi-disciplinary contractors working into the whole of Sub Saharan Africa. The Business Manager will be responsible to lead and manage the Surfacing Business to ensure profitability of the operations while reporting to the GM of the company.

- Lead the business: develop long term strategy of the Surfacing Business, manage internal and external stakeholders, capture updated raw material prices onto data base
- Oversee the source and purchase of Surfacing and other raw materials: Analyse product requirements, understand and manage the sourcing of surfacing from local and international suppliers and ensure that the business has sufficient supply at all times
- Manage the application of Surfacing products: Lead the surfacing team, manage the required surfacing distributors, and to ensure that customer requirements are met related to product, quantity and timing of programme.
- Ensure Quality control: Monitor non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented, ensure that certifications are provided with delivered product
- Responsible for profitability of surfacing business: Develop strategic plan to meet annual financial targets, implement and manage financial control system. Ensure base coat cost and profitability used in quotations are in line with business targets
- Build and maintain customer and supplier relationships: Maintain good relationships with customers and suppliers by communicating in a respectful manner and ensure customer satisfaction by attending to queries promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure understanding and compliance to Competition legislation: ensure a thorough understanding of the Competition Act amongst team members and customers, report non- compliance to senior management
- Technology and Development: Participate in development of new technologies and products, implement and inform management about new technologies
- Comply to and implement all HSE requirements related to the Surfacing Industry: ensure safe working conditions and ensure that operations meet all Environmental Requirements.
Candidate Requirements -
- Tertiary qualification in Science and Technology
- Extensive relevant bitumen training from Asphalt Academy
- Minimum 8-10 years in the surfacing / bituminous environment of which at least 5 years must be in a management position
