The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
To meet the challenges of ensuring that LSTM provides a quality financial service, we are seeking to recruit a Financial Compliance Officer who will be responsible for the management of the workload and operational tasks of the Grants Team to assist with the effective delivery of grants and contracts management for all LSTM Group companies.. Working closely with the Finance Applications Officer you will also ensure that grant applications forecasting and budgeting workload is covered appropriately by the team.
It is essential that you are Educated to GCSE level (with Grade C passes or above in English and Mathematics), and will be AAT qualified or equivalent. You will be responsible for leading the team in all financial post award contract management issues so it is important that you have proven experience in coordinating work across a team, that you thrive when working under pressure and have a friendly 'can do' attitude.
You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective working relationships, have the ability to effectively prioritise your own workload and those of others within the team. Alongside these skills you will use your knowledge of different accounting packages and other IT systems to assist with the development of systems and processes. The role will require you to work to tight deadlines so excellent time management and organisational skills are essential as is an excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications, with advanced excel skills.
