Tax Manager
On behalf of our client (a leading multinational financial group), we are recruiting Tax Manager, We are looking for individuals who will add value to the operations of our client by binging a systematic and disciplined approach to the effective delivery of audit and tax risk management, control and governance judgement, These are middle management posits which are tenable at their Head Officer in Blantyre
Provide tax advice to all group business units and subsidiaries so as to ensure tax compliance at all times
Manage the group tax computations for various tax schemes (VAT, FBT, PAYE, etc), and prepare tax returns for submission to Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), Manage all tax correspondence to and from Malawi Revenue Authority, Ensure compliance with the local tax laws on all taxable transactions and products, Identify tax risks associated with the entity and formulation of strategies and procedures to minimize the risks, Advice, update and recommend implementation steps to management on any impacts of the tax amendments to the entity, Build staff capacity through on-the-job training and conducting tax refresher meetings with responsible personnel within the organization to ensure compliance with the relevant provision of the Tax Laws, Prepare and timely submit income tax and any other tax obligations as required by the Tax Laws, Manage computation of tax provision and carrying out reconciliations of all tax accounts in the ledgers, Lodge appeals to MRA when need arises, and provide support to MRA on tax audits and tax health checks, Ensue completeness, accuracy and timely reporting of tax issues to internal and external stakeholders, Ensure proper filing and record-keeping of all tax-related transactions and communication
A Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA will be an added advantage, Proven working experience as a tax officer (at least 5 yrs) with a reputable financial or tax institution
Sound knowledge of the tax systems in Malawi, Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases, Proven knowledge of accounting standards, and procedures, laws, rules and regulations, Ability to navigate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports, Sound independent judgement, high attention to detail, and excellent analytical, communication and team player skills, Aged between 30 and 50 yrs
