Regional and Thematic Manager – HIV and AIDS

ActionAid Malawi is a locally registered nongovernmental organisation under the Company’s Act 1984 as a company limited by guarantee and is an affiliate of ActionAid International, a federation of national organisations working in over 45 countries in Africa, Asia, America and Europe regions, ActionAid has been working in Malawi since 1991 and works in partnership with communities, community based organisations, civil society, social movements, and govts, across the world to fight and eradicate poverty, injustice and exclusion, We work with and support poor and excluded people in the struggle to demand and claim their rights, ActionAi’ds work is focused around women’s rights, education and youth, food security, just and democratic governance, human security ad in HIV and AIDS  
ActionAid , with new funding from ActionAid Spain is implementing HIV and AIDS interventions in partnership with local organisations in 12 districts of Malawi under its fourth Country Strategic Plan “People’s Actions to a Poverty-Free Malawi”

Regional and Thematic Manager – HIV and AIDS – Lilongwe – ActionAid

Lead in the development, implementation and monitoring of the HIV and AIDS thee interventions to support the realization of the Country strategic plan, Initiative and or collaborate the development and nurturing of alliances, networks and coalitions working on specific HIV and AIDS issues at the national level with strong grassroots links, Provides management and technical support and guidance to Local Rights Programmes (LRPs) and implementing partners, Engages govt and institutions, international and sub regional bodies in theme identified priority  policy issues affecting people living in  poverty and social exclusion, Develops and implementing systems and plans to manage partner-managed long term development initiatives, manages the integration of HIV and AIDS and Women’s Rights issues in programme and policy work across the districts and with national programmes, Provides leadership in the development of Plans and Budgets for all LRP operations and Projects and monitors  budget utilisation, Assesses potential risks in the programme implementation and resource utilisation and develops action plans to mitigate the identified risks, Provide leadership in policy, research, advocacy, influencing and campaigning in  HIV and AIDS, Ensure linkages and synergy between HIV and AIDS programmes and other themes, developing proposals for fundraising to ensure sustainable actions, Develop plans and budgets, monthly, quarterly and annual thematic reports, Manages members of staff in 3 Local Rights Programs, responsible for their performance management and general management approvals

The ideal candidate will have a Masters in Public Health, Social Science with a minimum of 5 yrs experience in managing and coordinating HIV and IADS or similar work, A social justice orientation and passionate about the rights of people living with HIV, Well networked locally and internationally, S/he shall have a successful track record effective advocacy and campaign work in HIV and AIDS, A good appreciation of local, regional and global contexts of poverty, social exclusion and HIV and AIDS, A good understanding of human rights based programming and the links between women’s rights and HIV
