Immunization Technical Officer

JSi currently provides technical support to the Malawi Ministry of Health Expanded Program on Immunization (MOH/EPI) to strengthen routine immunization in Malawi, JSI is recruiting for an Immunization Technical Officer (ITO) ho can provide technical assistance in the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and documentation of new vaccine introduction including measles rubella (MR), inactivated polio virus (IPV) and BORV, support social mobilisation and supportive supervision, and lead an effective vaccine management assessment and post introduction evaluation, These activities will help strengthen routine immunisation and contribute to the improvement of immunization coverage
The ITO will collaborate closely with the JSI/Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) team, supervised by the MCSP/Malawi Senior Immunization Technical Advisors based in Lilongwe and Washington DC, The OTO will also work with MOH/EPI and health promotion units at both national and district levels and with colleagues from other partner organisations on key policies and program strategies, The terms of position will be 1 yr with possibility of extension dependent on funding
Support the EPI unit and selected GHMTs to conduct regular supportive supervision visits and on the job training for immunization service delivery and provide feedback to health facilities, Facilitate district review meetings on immunization, Facilitate planning and implementation of Effective Vaccine management Assessment (EVMA) in health facilities and d coordinate the development of a comprehensive improvement plan, Support the EPI unit implement the introduction o plan for the switch from TOPV to bOPV, Support the EPI unit implement the campaign plan for Measles Rubella (MR) in selected districts, Support the health promotion unit in implementing activities of the EPI communication strategy, Collaborate with the MCSP/Malawi Senior Immunization technical Advisor, and MCSP/HQ team in the preparation an implementation of workplans and budgets, maintain close contact with the MCSP/Malawi and MCSP/HQ teams, Produce quarterly and specific activity reports as requested, Conduct supportive supervision visits to the districts, Provide logistics and coordination supports during the MR campaign and introduction, Other duties as assigned by the MCSP/Malawi Immunization Technical Advisors
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines and with attention to detail and quality, Excellent interpersonal and team skills, demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients and consultants, Experience working with Ministry of Health, international agencies and/or NGO public health programs, Experience managing immunization programs and child health programs, including provincial and/or district based work, A minimum of 3 yrs of experience in immunization is required, Masters Degree in public Health with a minimum of 3 yrs of experience or 1st level Degree in Public Health with 10 yrs of experience
