Driver – Water Aid – Lilongwe

The post holder will be based at the Programme Office in Lilongwe but will be expected to spend a lot of time travelling to various parts of the country, The post holder is required to be proactive in the use of programme vehicles, to use their sense of judgement and to work without constant supervision

Ensure that Water Aid Malawi’s vehicles are properly used and are maintained, Manage the vehicle maintenance and control system, which include filling logbooks, private mileage and monthly reports and ensure that the system operates efficiently, Ensuring that logbooks are completed properly, Ensure that all WaterAid vehicles are roadworthy and safe to use at all times, Ensure that all vehicles have met current legislation in terms of tax, registration certificate of fitness and insurance and that all copies of valid documents are kept in the vehicles, Ensure that all vehicles are maintained on regular basis and kept clean, tidy and in serviceable condition, in line with the  appropriate service schedules in the Transport policy, Arrange for a garage appointments, delivery and collection of vehicles for repairs and servicing, Carry out weekly service checks, Driving, delivery or any messenger duties that require using a vehicle, Assist with Office clerical work in document preparation assigned by the HRAA

The driver will be asked from time t time to take on additional duties, responsibilities or assignments that may be outside core responsibilities but related to WaterAid Malawi’s work, For example, assist in manning the reception, Visitor ushering and clerical duties

At least MSCE or O Level, A clean and valid SADC Drivers licence Class C1, PG or above, Those with a certificate in Defensive Driving, Administration or logistics will have an added advantage but not a pre-requisite, At least 3 yrs driving experience preferably in an International NGO driving Off-road and Field vehicles (mostly 4 x 4 vehicles), Knowledge of vehicle management and minor mechanics, Computer knowledge in MS Office Word or Excel, Internet and email, A passion for Charity work, Be conversant with English and Chichewa (reading and writing skills0, Willingness to travel and knowledge of Malawi road networks
