Technical Deputy Chief of Party, Malawi
We are currently seeking a Technical Deputy Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID-funded Feed the Future Ag Diversification for Incomes and Nutrition project. The project’s primary focus will be to sustainably reduce poverty and stunting in eight districts of Central and Southern Malawi. The project will work to improve the nutritional status of women and children under five through a proven nutrition-sensitive approach of layering agriculture and nutrition behavior change interventions in rural communities, while at the same time increasing the competitiveness of high-value, nutrient-rich value chains through support for agricultural enterprises and increased access to markets and finance.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the Chief of Party in attaining project goals and objectives by providing technical advice and direction when appropriate.
  • Oversee day-to-day planning, design and operations of project and technical teams to ensure effective project implementation.
  • Responsible for ensuring integration and synergies across technical areas.
  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of reports and documents to USAID, national governments, ACDI/VOCA headquarters and other partner organizations.
  • Work closely with subcontractors and private sector associations in the region to provide technical and organizational assistance.
  • Oversee and provide technical guidance to the directors for agriculture productivity, enterprise development, finance and investment, and nutrition.
  • Preparation or supervision of work plans, financial, logistical and other documents
  • Recommendation and evaluation of proposed staff
Qualifications:
  • Master’s in Business, Economics, or Law preferred
  • At least 10 years management experience
  • A record of successful performance in at least one contract technical area that, ideally. Is complementary to, not duplicative of, the COP’s area of expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with institutional and private sector partners and stakeholders in a multi-country setting.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
