Customs Clearing Associate – JTI Leaf Malawi Limited
Reporting to Procurement Manager the position is responsible for collating all the information needed to complete the customs clearance of import materials, ensuring duty and VAT calculations are correct and accurate in line with the Malawi Revenue Authorities (MRA) requirements, The position will also be responsible for preparing and following up customs duty documentation with respective clearing agents, preparation of duty and VAT payment requests to ensure that payments are made on time, advising suppliers and other stakeholders of import duty procedures and document requirements, Advises management on import tariff changes whenever applicable, Liaise with the Malawi Revenue Authority on behalf of JTILM on import tax issues and prepare landed costs for imported goods, documentation for returned goods and equipment sent for repairs to foreign suppliers
At least a Diploma in Procurement and Supply (minimum level 4) or relevant field with requisite experience in customs clearing, Good knowledge of Import and Export, LCL, road and air consolidation and transit and Trans-shipment procedures, Interpersonal problem solving and goo communication skills, Good knowledge of incoterms 2000, At least 3 yrs of experience in customs clearing, Ability to work in a changing environment with minimum supervision, SAP/ERP experience will be an added advantage
