I-TECH – International Training and Education Center for Health has been priviledged to provide technical support to the Govt of Malawi ministry of Health (MOH), since 2008, through seconded senior technical assistants, Programmes officers and public Health Fellows, The ITEC was established in 2002 at the University of Washington in Seattle, ITEC H is funded by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Global HIV and TB (CDC-DGHT) under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIS Relief (PEPFAR)
Program Officer, HIV Treatment and Care – ITECH – Lilongwe
The position shall be tenable at the HIV and AIDS Department which is one of the directorate of the ministry of Health, The overall aim of the position is to help reduce morbidity and mortality among people living with HIV and IADS and mitigate its impact in Malawi, The position holder shall contribute to the Department’s role in policy development and providing policy guidance related to HIV and AIDS services and monitoring the implementation of the services provided, The service areas include ART and PMTCT services, STI services, HTC and Logistics
Among the key roles, the HIV Treatment and Care Programme Office shall assist in the implementation of the integrated ART/MPTC Supportive Supervision, provide training and capacity building alongside various stakeholders and implementing partners, support service delivery within the Department in strengthening health systems as well as undertaking operations research
MBBS or BSC Clinical Medicine is required, At least 3 yrs post qualification experience in infectious diseases, with particular bias in the areas of HIV and AIDS prevention and care activities, Those with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine should have at least 5 yrs post qualification experience
Experience and knowledge in HIV care, support interventions, A strong background and in-depth knowledge of public health approaches, Familiar with literature on HIV care and support, Self starter with well developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to work constructively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary setting with a wide array of experts in the field, Fluent in oral and written English, computer literate (Microsoft Word, excel, power point, internet)
