PSI seeks dynamic, entrepreneurial candidates with an interest in private sector approaches to development for the position of Country Representative based in Maputo, Mozambique. The Country Representative will provide vision, leadership, direction and management to the organization and build and maintain constructive donor relations, including USAID, the Dutch Government, DFID, DANIDA and the Government of Mozambique. The Country Representative is responsible for all donor reporting, managing and mentoring platform staff, ensuring achievement of programmatic deliverables, assuring technical quality of interventions, and overseeing partnerships with other organizations and government entities. The Country Representative reports to the Regional Director for East Africa who is based in Washington, D.C.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Country Representative will be responsible for the overall development, management (financial, administrative, and programmatic), and representation of PSI’s activities in Mozambique. This includes, but is not limited to:
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will be diplomatic with outstanding demonstrated public relations skills, and a natural tendency towards capacity building and facilitation. S/he will be a creative, innovative and strategic thinker, and will have: excellent communication, analytical, organizational, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; a strong interest in private sector approaches to development; and proven ability to produce results. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated fund raising ability and experience in qualitative and quantitative research.

- Long term strategic planning;
- Business Analytics driven decision making;
- Health impact;
- Direction and feedback to maximize program potential;
- Sustain and grow the Movercado eco-system;
- Marketing strategies and execution;
- Overall institutional development;
- Strengthening systems for enhanced local governance;
- Capacity building and coaching of the national staff;
- Fundraising for existing and new activities;
- Leading external relations with donors, government partners, and civil society stakeholders;
- Enforcing internal controls and accountability mechanisms;
- Oversight of the development of annual marketing and operational plans;
- Fundraising for existing and new activities; and
- Financial and programmatic reporting as required by the government, donors and PSI/Washington.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc)
- Proven record of excellent management, leadership and decision making
- At least 5 years work experience in a developing country (previous experience in sub-Saharan Africa and/or Mozambique preferred)
- At least 8 years of senior level management experience in business or social enterprise or social marketing, overseeing large teams in and/or for developing countries
- Demonstrated strengths in marketing, strategic organizational leadership and external relations
- Some understanding of mobile technology preferred
- Experience working constructively with international donors and government ministries
- Strong knowledge and familiarity with the international donor community, including USAID
- Knowledge of international development and health issues
- Excellent cross-cultural and interpersonal skills
- Effective English oral and written communication skills required
- Ability to interact professionally in Portuguese preferred
