The Advisor will support the Coalition of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (COWLHA) and Women for Fair Development (WOFAD) in promoting sexual and reproductive health rights by empowering women economically.

DESCRIPTIONMalawi Network of AIDS Service
Organizations (MANASO) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to the reduction of HIV prevalence and to the alleviation of suffering caused by this epidemic through coordination, capacity building, mobilization and allocation of resources to AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) in Malawi. It was formed in 1996 to coordinate and network the activities of AIDS Service Organizations in Malawi. Currently, MANASO has over 400 members across the country, including city and district councils, local organizations and international organizations. Local organizations supported by MANASO include: Women for Fair Development (WOFAD), Active Youth Initiative for Social Enhancement (AYISE), Malawi AIDS Counseling and Resource Organization (MACRO), Mzuzu Youth Association (MYA), Nancholi Youth Organization (NYO), Association of Rural Community Development (ARCOD), Center for the Empowerment of Women, Center for Conflict Management and women Development, the Youth Network and Counseling (YONECO) and Coalition of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (COWLHA). WOFAD and COWLHA have requested a volunteer to assist them in the area of economic empowerment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Coalition of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (COWLHA) and Women for Fair Development (WOFAD) in promoting sexual and reproductive health rights by empowering women economically
  • Conduct an assessment to determine appropriate and profitable enterprises for women
  • Assist partner organizations in promoting appropriate enterprises for women Ensure equal representation and participation of women and men in all programme activities
  • Draft reports required by Uniterra and host organization
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree in Social Sciences, Business Studies or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in enterprise and business development Experience working in the HIV sector
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English Ability to work as part of a team
