The FM role oversees the setup of Finance operations and lays the foundation for the Oil & Gas business in Mozambique. The FM will be required to recruit, develop and lead a team of professionals and ensure a sound compliance environment throughout the business. The FM will also need to engage with government institutions such as the Central Bank and tax authorities to understand the regulatory landscape, exchange controls, rules and regulations under which the Oil & Gas business will operate.
1. The Finance Manager will partner with established GE businesses in the region to build the finance infrastructure and implement key processes that are required for the Oil & Gas business to conduct business in Mozambique
2. Identify, recruit, develop and lead Finance talent to ensure a robust pipeline
3. Develop strategic and financial plans, including Blueprint, Session 2, and annual Operating Plans
4. Provide strong controllership oversight, and drive consistency of accounting processes and controllership/compliance awareness across the operations
5. Fully support internal and external audits and drive compliance with the complex statutory and tax requirements in an evolving regulatory environment. Establish solid Partnerships with GE Global Ops Finance and HR, as well as with KPMG, PwC and E&Y
6. Partner with banks and develop relations with regulatory, gov’t authorities to understand cash repatriation and foreign exchange considerations.
7. Represent GE Oil & Gas at C-Suite level, interfacing directly with finance and business executives in the country
8. Support Regional and P&L commercial as well as operations teams in developing and executing business growth, and profitability in Mozambique
9. Partner with Global Operations Finance (GOG) to ensure setup and operationalization of Enterprise Standards support
10. Implement key finance processes such as ITO, OTR, Commercial Finance to support business growth in Mozambique
11. Partner with operations and functional leaders and staff to drive operating performance and act as champion for cost optimization, productivity, inventory accuracy & utilization, as well as inventory standard settings
12. Support commercial risk management processes and reviews and serve as primary local finance decision support for the Oil and Gas businesses
13. Drive business operating mechanisms to monitor and improve key financial metrics such as sales, base costs, variable costs liquidation and cash flow
• BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of ten years of finance experience with increasing responsibility
• Exceptional team leadership skills
• Executive leadership presence and credibility
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to effectively work independently and with a diverse, global team
• Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex financial issues
• Strong controllership skills, including ability to interpret and apply complex statutory and tax requirements.
• Exceptional communication skills - with both the financial and operational communities
• Willingness and ability to drive change & implement process improvements in an emerging global region
• Solid track record of delivering results
• Strong PC Skills and knowledge of financial reporting systems
• CAS audit manager graduate or comparable experience and/or training
• Masters Degree /MBA preferred
• Black Belt experience or equivalent training (GE Employees Only)
• Exposure to Oil & Gas markets and US GAAP accounting
• CPA or equivalent
