Since August 2011, Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) has been working in Malawi to address capacity challenges within the criminal justice sector with the overall aim of promoting the rule of law and improving access to justice for unrepresented and particularly vulnerable persons.
IRLI is seeking a Programme Lawyer to join the Access to Justice Programme in Lilongwe, Malawi. The placement is full time for one year, commencing 10 August 2015. The Programme Lawyer will join a small team of lawyers and will work with the Malawi Police Services to undertake activities to manage and implement IRLI's Training Programme on the Treatment of Child Suspects and the Concepts of Restorative Justice.
Essential: Candidate must be qualified solicitor/barrister with 1 year PQE.
Essential: Undergraduate degree in law, human rights, development or related area of study
Essential: Experience working in a legal/development/human rights context
Desirable: Qualified in and/or practicing experience in Ireland
