Our Client - My client is one of South Africa leading multi-disciplinary contractors working into the whole of Sub Saharan Africa.
Job Description - This Construction giant is looking for an Estimator to join their team working on major Civil & Infrastructure projects in KZN.
  • Responsible for the acquisition and analysis of tender documents through various medium
  • Attend sites visits and undertake investigations, compile a list of all competitors and other interested parties
  • Ensure timeous collection, assessment and analysis of tender documentation, tenders and proposals
  • Ensure the delivery of a completed tender and analysis of tender results. Amend tender cost rates at post finalization stage by making relevant adjustments.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timeous implementation of procurement and bill of quantities processes. Review material and labour requirements and prepare engineering analysis of projects.
  • Ensure speedy resolution of anomalies' in suppliers and subcontractors quotations and/or qualifications and for obtaining quotation through consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the quantification of materials needed, listing of subcontractors portions and issuing of specifications and drawings in consultations with Procurement.   Liaise with relevant teams with regards to interpretation thereof.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of work to be executed by summarizing the quantities of major activities by using in conjunction with the planning staff.
  • Responsible for the provision of an effective estimating function by preparing engineering analysis of projects, conduct special studies, prepare estimates for management purposes.
  • Responsible for maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders by liaising with clients, potential clients and consulting engineers and being the brand ambassador.
  • Ensure timeous estimation of unit cost rates for projects on tender. Assessment of individual billed items, calculation of labour rates, materials and plant contents.
  • Ensure all cost and estimating processes are aligned to the company SHE policies and procedures by identifying safety needs and priorities, and that the legislation is adhered to. To assess preventative strategies and build costs into tender estimates.

Candidate Requirements -
  • Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. NHD, BSC, B Tech Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying and/or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years roads and earthworks  estimating experience
  • Knowledge of and application of the full tendering process cycle
  • Understanding of commercial matters, affecting tenders and projects
  • Computer skills: relevant computer software packages - CCS preferable
