IP Support Engineer (Field Service Operations) – LILONGWE HR14007
Reporting to the Manager Networks he/she will be responsible for:
- Installation, implementation and maintenance of MTL’s IP network. This also includes installation and support of customer sites, test and turn up of custom solutions and network documentation
- Providing customer support on all access and edge network faults as well as customer sites
- Supporting network moves, upgrades, and changes including hardware installation and configuration.
- Providing Level 1/Tier 1 technical support to internal and external customers including problem troubleshooting and resolution of network events and outages.
- Providing IP troubleshooting support to sales demos as requested.
- IP network equipment, and WAN fault isolation.
- Ability to travel to MTL and customer facilities, for maintenance and new equipment installation as required.
Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of Cisco Routers and Switches.
- Configure and troubleshoot IP routing protocols – BGP, OSPF, and RIP.
- Experienced with LAN infrastructure – VLAN, Trunking, HSRP.
- Experience Installing/Troubleshooting WAN circuits – E1/E3/T1/T3.
- Working knowledge of IP Subnetting
- Good understanding of TCP/IP network technologies; DNS, DHCP, TFTP, NAT, and SSL
- Working knowledge of broadband access technologies (xDSL,WiMAX,E1/T1,Ethernet)
- Working knowledge of WAN Protocols (PTP, Frame Relay, PPPoE, PPPoA etc.)
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Sincere desire to provide outstanding support and service.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Technical and non-technical, oral and written, communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Should have Bachelor of Science Degree or its equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years directly related work experience.
- CCNA certification
- Unix/Linux
