Jhpiego is an international, on profit health organisation affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University, Jhpiego develops innovations for enhancing capacity for the health care workers, strengthening health systems and improving delivery of care towards improving the health and well-being of the people.  Since 1999, Jhipego has been collaborating with Govt of Malawi Ministry of Health (MoH) and various partners in implementing a wide-range of activities in maternal health, family planning and reproductive health, newborn and child health, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.  Current key projects include the Sport for Service integration-Services (SSDI-Services), maternal and Child Health Integrated Program (MCHIP) and Voluntary medical Male Circumcision (VMMC).

“Sankhani Moyenela –Smart choice” is a 4 yr USAID-funded MCHIP Associate Award which aims at scaling up Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) services in Malawi, targeting males age 15-49 yrs in 5 districts by providing 150,000 circumcisions by 2017.  The core project goals are to strengthen National VMMC quality assurance system, increase access and availability of VMMC service, and pilot integration of EIMC into maternity services. SANKHANI is currently present in 3 districts in the Southern Region of Malawi: Thyolo, Chikwawa, and Zomba.    

Jhpiego programs are being implemented in both govt and CHAM health facilities and communities in the 5 MoH health zones across the 3 region of Malawi. 

As such, Jhpiego intends to a recruit skilled and dynamic profession for the following position

Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) Clinical Provider , Reporting to District Team Leader, Position supervised: Community Counsellors, , Chikwawa, Zomba or Thyolo 

The voluntary Medical Male  Circumcision (VMMC) Clinical Provider will be responsible for providing safe Medical Male Circumcision Services to eligible persons in Malawi at designated facilities supported by Jhpiego.  The position entails frequent travel to support fixed, outreach and mass circumcision activities whenever and wherever in the district the need arises.  The candidate should expect to travel to the field about 90% of his/her time.  The VMMC Clinical Provider is an integral member of Jhpieog’s circumcision rapid response team and reports to VMMC Team Leader.  The provider will be based in either Zoba, Thyolo, or Chikwawa districts 

As a member of the VMMC Rapid Response team, reporting to the District VMMC Team Leader, s/he will be responsible for the following duties 

Prepare clients and conduct safe male circumcision procedures at designated health facilities as part of a comprehensive package of VMMC services in line with national and donor policies and guidelines, Participate in VMMC activities at outreach sites and clinics during mass circumcision campaigns, Provide post-operative and follow up care to clients and monitor progress appropriately, Report any adverse events to Senior VMMC Technical Advisor within 12 hours and attend to clients, Conduct the procedures efficiently and apply innovative methods to improve quality and efficiency, Provide support for group education , informed consent, and client eligibility screening as needed, Ensure that stringent infection control measures are maintained prior, during and after procedures, Maintain equipment and supplies in good working condition, actively participate in quality assurance activities, and take a leading role in quality improvement, Ensure the procedure
room/area is well prepared an clean before and after the procedure, contribute to monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required, during times of low client demand provide support for demand creation activities, Perform any other related duties as required 

Clinical Officer with Diploma in Clinical Medicine with strong surgical skills or Sate registered Nurse with a Diploma or Degree in Nursing, Valid registration with the Malawi Medical Council or Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi, At least 2 yrs of work experience in a hospital/clinic setting, Good knowledge in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care issues, Excellent problem solving, decision making, organisational and communication skills, with ability to prioritise  multiple tasks and work efficiently in a demanding environment, Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, flexibility, diplomacy, cross-cultural communication, willingness to listen, and respect to colleagues, Possession of computer skills including MS Office, Power Point and Excel, Fluent written and spoken English and Chichewa, Willingness to engage in frequent travel (about 90% of his/her time) to support outreach and mass circumcision activities within Malawi 
 
Training in and.por previous experience working in voluntary medical male circumcision programs is strongly desired.
