The Natural Resources Institute (NRI) (www.nri.org) is an internationally renowned multi-disciplinary centre of the University of Greenwich that undertakes research, consultancy and training in order to discover, apply and share knowledge in support of global food security, sustainable development and poverty reduction.
The Food and Markets Department is an internationally recognised, multidisciplinary group of natural and social scientists addressing the challenges faces by farmers and fishers in the postharvest arena. We work with public and private sector partners around the world to find viable and sustainable scientific solutions to value chain challenges. By conducting world-leading research and applying our knowhow and skills, we implement globally important programmes of research and innovation in rural and natural resource development.
We seek a Head of Department to lead a dynamic team of natural and social scientists dedicated to achieving the strategic aims of NRI. Internationally recognised in their chosen field, the post holder will be an experienced manager, with a proven track record in managing research excellence and business winning. It is anticipated that the appointment will be made at the Professorial level.
The position is based in the UK but with opportunities for regular short-term overseas travel.
